Better call SolVe

SolVe Online and Solve Desktop (Solution for Validating your engagement) is a role specific procedure generator available as both an online and an offline version that supports VxRail among many other products and solutions. Part of the value of VxRail is the ecosystem surrounding it. Why spend an inordinate amount time researching how to perform a task when it can be done for you? If you are cobbling together your own VxRail procedures it raises questions such as: “Is this supported?”, “Is this current?”, “Has this been tested?”, “Is this accurate?”, “Is this optimal?”, “What if something goes wrong?”, you know what… Better call SolVe. Here are the top 14 reasons I am a fan of SolVe:

  1. Generates a PDF of procedures specific to a VxRail software version, hardware model, and environmental configuration.
  2. Can supplement your organizational runbook, link to SolVe for common aspects of your runbook in addition to your specific environmental details.
  3. Updated continually to reflect hardware, software, firmware, supported configurations, and more optimal ways of performing procedures.
  4. Incorporates links to Knowledge Base (KBs) articles.
  5. Can be used to answers questions, such as “Can a customer replace an NVMe drive in an E560N running VxRail version 7.0.132?”, SolVe says “Yes”.
  6. As a heads-up for what is entailed from resource and complexity point of view when planning for a procedure.
  7. Reduce risk. Follow the procedure exactly, if there is a discrepancy, contact support before proceeding.
  8. SolVe conveniently provides links to the Release Notes for both VxRail and VCF on VxRail.
  9. Ease of use. Generated procedures literally have checkboxes [ ] for each step, pictures for visualization, and links to supplemental details.
  10. Each generated procedure has a summary of all selections made when following the procedure generation wizard as well as a date and time stamp.
  11. SolVe Desktop is ideal for scenarios where Internet access is periodically unavailable while SolVe Online is ideal for all other scenarios.
  12. Since each SolVe procedure is a record of the task you are trying to accomplish it can be used to assist Support in the event you run into an issue.
  13. A record of you recently generated procedures can be found on the SolVe website.
  14. In addition to the PDF created at completion of the SolVe wizard you are also Emailed a link to the PDF for convenience.
