VPLEX Performance Problem

Hello,

We are using 2 x UNITY600 with VPLEX local VS2 dual engines as storage infrastructure  for our core-banking.

We have a performance problem with transferring daily records of the transaction table to its historical table with 26 indexes and around 2 billion records after mirroring the LUNs of index data files in VPLEX, meaning EOD (End of day) and BOD (Beginning of DAY) jobs takes 2-3 hours more than before.

As a test we removed the mirroed legs from INDEX virtual volumes and performance was ok, started to mirror again and performance problem was seen.

Any experience ? is there any performance tuning and solution for VPLEX ? Any idea to help resolving the case ?

Hi,

Was it working without the slowdown previously? Are all of the drives online? Is everything up to date?

Yes, all arrays and vplex running the latest target code by EMC. All devices and HDDs are online.

The performance is good when using RAID0 devices for INDEX. but when converting to RAID1 with 2 legs then will face slowdown.

Is there any option to tell VPLEX process host I/O before mirror the 2 legs of device ?

command mirror-isolation could help ?

could you please clarify how could be help ? what would be behavior of VPLEX with this command ? How affect mirroed RAID1 virtual volumes ?

Is there any other idea to improve performance ?

Page 97 examples it somewhat, but it gives all the resources to one mirror. https://dell.to/2NSd2iI

No commands that will improve performance. You could do the steps here and contact phone support. https://dell.to/2Robb7q

Can we distribute LUNs between the 4 directors to do load balance ?
