VPLEX Metro

All,

.   I have a question regarding an upgrade on a production Vplex environment.  I have a CX4-480 connected to a Vplex Metro.  Identical configurations at both side.  The CX4-480 is running Flare Release 29 and we want to upgrade the Flare to the latest of Release 30.  I checked the Matrix and it looks like the current Vplex code 5.0.0.00.38 does match up with the Release 30. The other side is going to get upgraded the following week.

Question 1.  Does the customer have to do anything on the Vplex side before the upgrade?

Question 2.  Is it okay for the Source side to wait a week later for their CX4-480 to get upgraded?

Please let me know if there are any gotchas or tips.

Question 1. You may want to insure that each director has at least 2 paths but not more than 4 paths to each Storage Volume, across dual fabrics. Who ever is doing the upgrade will run a series of ndu pre-checks before they do the upgrade. If there are any issues they would be identified here. I would also insure that any upgrade, although it is NDU to the VPlex, does not effect your host or fabric (hba driver version, firmware, multi-pathing software version or switch firmware)

Question 2. The source side (Site 1) and your Secondary site (Site 2) do not have to be running the same Flare code or same array type.
