VPLEX Metro WAN Com traffic profile

My client is deploying vplex metro over a 10gbe wan connection. The WAN Link provider has asked a question about the number and size of potential traffic flows on the 10gbit link.

The specific question is 'will there be a need for a flow greater than 2gbe on the 10gbe link?' Multiple flows up to 2gbe each are fine, it seems there is a switch/ network component in the link that although total throughput of 10gbe is supported, an individual flow cant exceed 2gbe. Can anyone tell me if this is likely to be an issue in this configuration?

Hi Steve,

There are too many variables missing to give a thumbs up here.

My suggestion is to download the VPLEX sizing tools and plug the customer environment/application workloads in and check the output.

Also, make sure they are following best practices for redundancy.  There should be two independent links and each should handle the full workload should there be a WAN link failure.
