Possible faults in Vplex Local

Hello, we have just purchased a Vplex Local and we are evaluating if we acquire another one to put together a meter cluster in the same Data Center, because we have some doubts about the possible errors that could have in a local cluster, because the Vplex is in the same Rack, for example that there was an electrical problem in the Rack and the whole cluster went out. I hope I have been clear and you can help me with these doubts.

Hi Lunasox, Vplex Metro clusters generally speaking assumes clusters will be some distance apart and in different data centers so will have independent power feeds. Having cluster-1 and 2 in the same DC will work but if powered from the same power feed / source you will not have redundancy there so a key feature of Vplex Metro HA will not be there is such a situation. But even in close proximity the Vplex should work as long as Vplex Wan-Com (cluster to cluster production data connections) and VPN (IP based management connections between clusters) are in place. However i am not sure about support of 2 cluster's in the 1 rack i have not seen customers do this specifically. Can i ask what Metro features interest you? if its Raid (mirroring) if you have more that 1 array connected on the back end it is possible to create Raid-1 local volumes so the volume is mirrored on the 1 Vplex cluster but across 2 storage arrays. This is similar protection as seen in Vplex distributed storage but of course is local and protects against the loss of 1 of the 2 arrays. Thanks Allan
