Vostro 15 3591 updated factory image

Hi everyone,

I plan on selling my Vostro 3591 so I will need to factory reset it. However, I purchased it in 2020 so the factory image shipped with Windows 10. I'm currently running Windows 11 and the latest build of this model also ships with Windows 11 Pro. So I was wondering if there was a way to get an updated factory image with Windows 11?

On a side note, does Dell AU purchase used laptops that were purchased directly from Dell?

Yes, though you do not need to reload Windows 10 (and unless you have verified install media, probably cannot at this point).

If you want to completely wipe the drive first, there are utilities for doing just that -- some free, some commercial.  A clean install does not necessarily wipe the drive completely.

So if I do a factory reset and revert back to Windows 10, I should be able to upgrade to Windows 11 again using Windows Update? And does factory reset wipe clean the HDD?

No, there is not to the image -- you can do a clean install (and if you've activated it with a Microsoft account, remove it from your account).

Dell does have a trade-in program, but as with anything else, what they'll offer is far less than you'd get selling the system privately.   These were inexpensive systems to begin with and if it's three years old, likely has no warranty remaining.  Check a local auction site or EBay to see what similar systems are going for (probably from under $100 to about $200 depending on the configuration and the shape the system is in, in US dollars).
