How to set preference to the Intel GPU instead of the Nvidia GPU for Apps

Good day,

How can I set all apps to default to the Intel GPU as currently they are defaulting to the Nvidia GPU which causes the laptop's fan to make a lot of noise regularly.

Carefully refer to the attached screenshots below.

@Cyberflake  Go into NVIDIA Control Panel, find the application-specific settings, find your application (or create a new application profile if it's not already listed) and set the GPU preference to use integrated graphics.  I grant it's a bit unintuitive to have to use NVIDIA Control Panel to tell an application NOT to use the NVIDIA GPU, but that's how it works.

@Cyberflake  Sorry, I missed that you wanted to do this for ALL apps.  NVIDIA Control Panel does have a "global" profile, but that can be overridden by app-specific settings.  If you really don't want to use the NVIDIA GPU at all, then you can try simply disabling it in Device Manager, but if that's really what you want then I don't understand why you bought a system equipped with an NVIDIA GPU in the first place.

Mention your model computer in the body of your post. Hard to see it in the photos. The Intel video is integrated while the Nvidia is a supplemental or in some cases a discrete card. That "using the current driver" is just a notice that your driver is up to date. It has nothing to do with switching video. The Intel is always used until extra video demand while gaming or heavy duty use makes the Nvidia card kick in.

Turn on the hardware GPU scheduling to see if that improves the performance.

My approach: Only use Nvidia for games, then the fan can make as much noise as it wants.
