Vostro 3667 - no lan

Hello! I bought a used Vostro 3667 computer. The network does not work on it, both wired ethernet and wifi. In this case, the lamp on the network card is lit when the cable is connected. In addition, the wi-fi module is recognized as bluetooth.

I tried to run different OS: windows 10, ubuntu, kali linux - no difference, there is no network.

The last owner of the PC said that the bios chip was changed on it. I read on the forum that such problems can be caused by the absence of a MAC address in the bios firmware.

Please help me flash the MAC addresses. Perhaps there is a special utility for this.

Version of Windows?

Did you configure Ethernet and WiFi in Windows on this PC so they have permission to connect to the router on your network?

Do you have all the right Windows drivers installed?  Enter the Service Tag on the Support site (don't post it here). When it identifies the PC, select the right version of Windows before downloading any drivers for this specific PC.

You probably need the Realtek Ethernet driver for your version of Windows because that's on the motherboard but Dell installed one of several different WiFi+BT cards in this model. So be sure to get the right driver.  Some of the WiFi+BT cards have one driver for both functions, others need two drivers, one for WiFi and one for BT.

If you're using Win 10, follow these instructions to see if the Ethernet and/or WiFi has a MAC address that's visible to Windows.

Are there any "Unknown" devices listed in Device Manager?

@RoHe

Thanks for the reply.

Windows 10.0.17134.1304. I installed the official drivers from the Dell website, this one did not change anything.

It is not possible to configure the MAC address using the link provided. Network cards are not in the list.

ipconfig/all shows only the Bluetooth device and the external USB network card that I am currently using.

There are no non-installed or hidden or disabled devices in the "Task Manager". Network cards are simply missing. As I understand it, the bios simply does not initialize them.

Did you look in Device Manger (not "Task Manager") for any Unknown devices?

Replace the motherboard battery...

  1. Power off and unplug power cord from rear of PC
  2. Press/hold power button for ~15 sec
  3. Open case and remove motherboard battery (see Service Manual)
  4. Press/hold power button for ~30 sec
  5. Install fresh CR2032 3-volt coin cell battery
  6. Close up and connect mouse, monitor and keyboard
  7. Reboot

See if Ethernet and WiFi network adapters are now visible in Device Manager.
