RAM UPGRADE
I would like to upgrade the RAM on my Vostro 230, to 8Gb. I would like to have the description of the memory sticks I should be purchasing.

Thank you for the link, I see many conflicting responses to this issue.
A while ago I saw a response on this forum stating the following:
"To use two 4gb sticks, to achieve the desired 8Gb upgrade, it is necessary to use 2Rx4, low density memory.
The x4 reflects the number of banks, the 2R represents a dual rank, so, to have 8Gb upgrade, you have to get two 4Gb 2rsx4, DDR3 with 16 chips in each"
Is this statement correct, and is this stick available to be purchased?

Vostro 230 Userbenchmark shows 6GB and 8GB total RAM being used.
Make sure the RAM you get comes with something for a warranty and/or return policy.
Max spec seems to be 4GB. So I'm not guaranteeing 8GB will work, just providing some info for you to go on. If it doesn't work, PC simply won't boot. If it does work, Win10 64-bit will work faster.
It's not unusual for older/somewhat older Dell's to be able to exceed max spec RAM.
