NVMe drive failure

Vostro 3888

Vostro 3888

Vostro 3888 Warranty expired JUL 19, 2022

I replaced the HDD with a NVMe drive shortly after buying this computer.  That drive failed about three months ago and I bought a new drive from Crucial as a replacement.  Now Dell Diagnostics says: drive is operating outside specified parameters, or something to that effect.  Error code : 2000-0151 | Validation Code : 81655

The computer is actually booting fine.

In general, over the years, this has been a lousy computer.

That error does unfortunately indicate a problem with the drive's SMART. It may not have failed yet which is obviously why the system boots fine but it very well may fail down the road. Have you contacted Crucial as their drives do have a 5 year warranty.

The drive is under warranty and on its way to Brownsville, TX  via USPS.

It took three tries using a Rufus Windows 11 USB drive to get the computer running.  The first two times no boot device could be found when restarting.  Apparently I messed up the BIOS. The third time I installed a critical BIOS update from Dell and the computer is running fine.  I really don't know if the BIOS update fixed the boot problem.

My new Crucial P3 500GB PCIe M.2 2280SS SSD, replaced under warranty, is installed and running Windows 11 Pro.  I wonder how long it will last.
