Unity 480 Memory DIMM replacement problem

Hello,

We are having a problem replacing a faulty DIMM in SPA.

Steps followed :

- The system is operating normally except this DIMM error.

- We bring the SPA in service mode

- We remove the SPA, replace the faulted DIMM with one with the same part number

- We reinsert the SPA

- We reboot SPA

Result :

- The SPA remains in service mode state.

- Unisphere shows the following error message : 

"Incorrect amount or configurationof memory has placed the storage processor in service mode...."

- We replace the DIMM with the faulted one

- We reboot SPA

- The system is operating normally except the DIMM error.

Has anyone ever encountered such a problem ?

We wonder what is the solution.

Did you get the replacement dim from us? It sounds like it isn’t being recognized.

I don't know from where our supply service got it .

I will ask him to order from Dell if that is not the case.

In fact, I already suspected that.

I think your DIMM is fake. Not any EMC PN. Next time you can use a IPmitool to monitor sp boot logs. From the log file, you can find the reason
