Poweredge T420 sandy bridge with Ivy CPU
i have a T420 server box with sandy bridge motherboard. Yet every where I look, the specs say this board will support the E5-2400 v2 IVY bridge cpus, even gemini and chatgpt say this.
Can i have a definitive answer about this because I have two of these boxes and four e5-2470 v2 CPUs.
Will this server use the the newer Ivy bridge CPUs, when updating to the latest Bios?

Yes, you can use Ivy Bridge Xeon in PowerEdge T140. There are users whom outfitted their T420 with E5-2470 V2. You can find many of them on benchmark site to see how well those systems performed. Some specific configurations of E5-2470 V2 in PowerEdge T140 are here, here, and here.
