iDRAC9 without monitor and keyboard

Hello, I have several R750s with iDRAC9, Enterprise 15G and OpenManage Enterprise Advanced Plus in use, but all without monitor and keyboard. However, I have an admin notebook available which I can use for configuration.

How do I manage to get the screen output of the server onto my admin notebook? Is there a step-by-step guide from DELL? So far I can only find instructions that require a monitor.

Thank you!

Hi,

You can use iDRAC Virtual Console of each server to remotely view the server without monitor and keyboard. You can access them via your notebook/laptop (of course you will need to be on the same network subnet as the server's configuration).

Here a video ref: https://dell.to/3LQS2GS

  1. Log in to iDRAC: Open your web browser and enter the IP address of your iDRAC. Log in with your credentials.
  2. Launch the Virtual Console: Once logged in, navigate to the “Dashboard” and click on “Launch Virtual Console”. If you encounter a pop-up blocker, make sure to disable it.
  3. Choose Console Version: You can choose between the Java or HTML5 version of the console. The HTML5 version is recommended as it is supported by most modern browsers.

Alternatively, since you mentioned you have OpenManage Enterprise, you can also launch each server's iDRAC console invidually. The button Launch Virtual Console is located at Remote Console option.

Do you mean physically near the server because the idrac network is not configured?
