EMC supports most third party arrays with ORS however you need to have your ATC raise an RPQ for them. The reason for this is that EMC engineering want to have tight supervision of it.

I was recently involved in ORS from IBM SVC with DS8100 backend to V-Max and we had to submit an RPQ, migration went fine

I am migrating from DS4000 to VMAX 20K. However, the create session is failing on Cold Pull for Open replicator. For some reason the remote luns have the (I)ncomplete flag so the create session is failing.

Does anyone now why this can be? I can see the remote luns on VMAX, but cannot create the sessions.

Hi, sometimes it dipends on the path of remote storage if it's an actve/passive storage. Try to failover the lun on the alternate path on DS4800.

you are right, no Supp. Matrix lists any DS4000, but if I remember I asked an RPQ for a DS4000 storage and Open Replicator. The answer was that the architecture of DS4000 is quite the same. My advice is to ask for a RPQ.

It could be an old document but I dont see DS4000 supported by ORS, do you have a document which says its supported?

I was able to pull the data, but it gets stuck at 99%. Do not know why. Looking into it.

Yes,

it happens. Further more you should verify the size and the geometry of source and control device, VMAX is 15 tracks per cyl with 512 bytes block.

Weel, the platfor team was able to bootup and see all the LUNs - even thoug Hot-pull is still showing 99% on all luns and is stuck there.

does anyone know what is the Best Practice to zone the FA to the remote ports, if i have 2 FA and 2 remote ports per fabric in my OR session?

Is it:-

A) Multiple FAs to single remote port, or

B) Single FA to Single repote port, or

C) Single FA to multiple remote ports?

OR often gets slow near the finish line. Probably, urs is stuck at a phantom track.

Hi,

on cold pull or push not incremental, you can use not necessary all port where your control devices are mapped and you can follow the same rule of a normal host initiator (single hba zoning).
