The supported memory configurations are the tested and validated by Dell at the time those systems were designed.  Everything else is users validation through trial and error.  Certain out of specs could be done.

The configurations you wish to do 24 GB will work with 8 GB + 16 GB.

The configurations users could validated was 64 GB.  See the discussion here  https://www.dell.com/community/en/conversations/inspiron/dell-g15-5520-2022-edition-ram-upgrade-inquiry/656772cf9c7e3c6160fc1b3d

The compatible memory tool from Crucial is also guarantee that 64 GB kits would work with the G15 5520  https://www.crucial.com/compatible-upgrade-for/dell/dell-g15-gaming-(5520)

Please note that, Dell systems are picky and not every memory modules claimed to be compatible will work.

It is Definitely possible to upgrade G15 on 24 GB of ram just use a 16 GB with 8 GB of same 4800 MHz, It will definitly increase the power of system and makes it more stable to other applications running in background because up to 7Gb of ram will be consumed by Windows processes alone. Crucial RAM will be budget friendly option and will give the performance that you need. Also their will an advantage of Dual Channel RAM on upgade.. I Hope This might help

Stick to the configurations outlined in Dell's manual to ensure compatibility and optimal performance. You can upgrade to 16GB (2 x 8GB) or 32GB (2 x 16GB) of DDR5 4800MHz RAM, but avoid configurations like 24GB or 64GB as they are not officially supported and may not work correctly.
