XPS 8950, Support Assists failed to install

I am having problem installing Dell Support Assists in Windows 11 (10.0.22000 build 22000)  . I already have Microsoft Windwos .NET runtime  6-0-9 installed . The installer is directly from my Dell account Support page -> download

Apparentl,y it has successfully downloaded all the files but the installation ends with failure.

...Unable to complete installlation. Please reboot your PC and try again"

The installation log file lists these errors. Some errors are repetitive and I am not sure if it is because of the concatenation of logs from several installation attempts.

ERROR Dell.SupportAssist.Client.Utilities.RegistryUtility - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Dell\SupportAssistBusinessClient : Not exists

ERROR Dell.SupportAssist.Client.Utilities.RegistryUtility - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Dell\SupportAssist ProManage : Not exists

ERROR Dell.SupportAssist.Client.SupportAssistInstaller.AutoUpgradeHelper.SupportAssistInstallerPackage - Some Error occured while upgrading msi SupportAssist Agent :

ERROR Dell.SupportAssist.Client.SupportAssistInstaller.InstallSupportAssist - SupportAssist download/installation failed with return code: msiinstallationfailed

ERROR Dell.SupportAssist.Client.Utilities.RegistryUtility - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Dell\SupportAssist ProManage : Not exists

ERROR Dell.SupportAssist.Client.SupportAssistInstaller.AutoUpgradeHelper.SupportAssistInstallerPackage - Some Error occured while upgrading msi SupportAssist Agent :

ERROR Dell.SupportAssist.Client.SupportAssistInstaller.InstallSupportAssist - SupportAssist download/installation failed with return code: msiinstallationfailed

Just want to add that I also have .NET framework 4.8.1 installed and meet the requirements according to this :

https://www.dell.com/support/manuals/en-us/dell-supportassist-pcs-tablets/sahome_rn/minimum-pc-requirements?guid=guid-e9d4baad-6cae-417d-9a3a-3c37ee3f53a4

Since I am using the installer downloaded from my Account -> Support (SupportAssistLauncher.exe), I assume I am downloading ver 3.13 (the latest ?) .

Is it BIOS dependent ? I have not updated the BIOS since I got the system just a few months ago as it is a 'risky business" .

I begin to wonder if I should spend the time to make this work since I don't really need it except for finding out why it doesn't install. It seems to me that something supposed to solve problems is causing problem itself .

BINGO. You don't need it. Can you name anything that this tool does to "solve" your problems?  SupportAssist, as well as Dell Update and many other Dell programs introduce various processes and services into your system that're unncessary and also troublesome.

If the only reason you want it installed is for maintaining your driver software so its kept up-to-date, then set a calendar reminder to check for updates on Dell Support. You'll then have to manually download/install those updates

On the SupportAssist OS Recovery home page, click Repair on the Repair software tile. NOTE If software encryption is enabled on your computer, you are prompted to unlock your computer before you start the repair process.
Click START REPAIR. The repair process starts, and the progress of repair is displayed.

I managed to reinstall SupportAssist by:

1) uninstalling anything related to SupportAssist in Control Panel uninstall program (I could not uninstall Support Assist itself that came with the Dell system since it couldn't find the files from which it was installed from by Dell)

2) I aslo uninstalled .NET runtime 6-0-9 and .NET framework 4-8-1

3) I removed those items suggested by this video

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F1oUJY0vB4A

Fortunately for me, I only found one entry suggested in the video.

4) I created a restore point , then I used Regedit  (Administrator) to export the whole registry to a .reg file.

5) I  removed every single entry that is related to Dell Support Assist from the registry (I counted at least  90 entries , I stopped counting after that) , it took so long but is a training for my Jedi's patience ~~~~

6) Downloaded the SupportAssist installer from Dell (my account support page). The installer installed Support Assist 3.13.0.236. I didn't even need to re-install .NET runtime 6-0-9 or the framework.

I will try the "Repair function" ( suggested by RachelGomez ) next time it happens.
