SupportAssist Scan Hardware Disables Printer

I'm running Windows 11 on my Dell XPS 8940.  I have brother printer/scanner (HL-L2380DW) which typically works fine.  However, after every time I run the Dell SupportAssistant 'Scan hardware,' my printer immediately becomes nonfunctional.  Then, the only way to get it running again is for me to delete the printer in Windows, then have Windows search and add the device again.  After that it works fine until the next scan. I've subsequently stopped using the scan hardware option.  Just wondering what might be causing such an issue since I see no problems with the printer device or drivers. Thanks!
