Why wont my computer recognize any DVDs?
My DELL Inspiron ONE 2330 won't recognize any dvds that i put into the disc drive (TSSTcorp DVD+-RW SN_208BB). The computer says that the driver is up to date & that the device is functioning normally. I have played all the dvds in a seperate dvd player without issue. When i try to access the disc drive through file explorer to try to access the dvd from there, it will just load for a while until prompting me to insert a disc into the disc drive regardless of whether or not there is a disc in the disc drive. The computer recognizes that the drive is there & it shows up in file manager & device manager. The drive is physically functional & tries to read from the DVD (i only have DVD's , no other kind of optical media), But all the computer will do with the drive is recognize that it's there & tell me its empty.

Most likely, the laser has failed -- replace the drive.
