SourceOne 7.2 Shortcuts then Restore make mailbox less
Hi
please explain why when I make shortcuts from messages then restore them back, size of mailbox is less then before.
Size In Kb |
Before shortcuts |
Shortcutted |
Restored shortcuts |
Testmailbox |
5152534 |
4208344 |
4974578 |
I tested it several times
Mailboxes are on Exchange 2010, SourceOne 7.2

Can you give is a bit more detail on what you tested? What kind of items (emails, calendar items, ... )
Does SourceONe says that all these items are shortcutted and afterwards restored?

Not much details - It was emails, Inbox, Sent, Deleted.
Also its just attachments and images, but not the email body.
Yes, S1 said Succeed shortcutted, Succeed restored.

Greetings,
Without comparing all MAPI properties of messages it hard to tell. When messages are archived with SourceOne archive activities which increases the message size a little on time of restore if original emails from archive are restored those properties will not be present. Similarly there are other properties e.g. PR_TRANSPORT_MESSAGE_HEADER to be checked as well because headers on journaled copy in archive could be different than copy in user mailbox if message went to different exchange dbs and journal mailboxes.
Thanks,
Rajan

Hi Rajan
Thank you for answers.
Now we got a problem - after one of tries restore shorcut, there are lot of shurtcuts didnt restore, but SourceOne writes Activity finished Successful.
What log I must to check to find a problem?
Please.
Or I should start another, new Discussion?
Thanks

Greetings,
Please look to re-run shortcut restore activity to be sure and make sure no failures were recorded.
If no failures are recorded and still you find shortcut see if by any change users received those messages as shortcuts. In outlook you can add message class column, if message class is not IPM.Note.EXShortcut that would mean that for SourceOne message is not really a shortcut message.
In terms of logs while creating job at second last screen there is option to enable detail logging. You can enable that and then open its logs when jobs will process (from job management).
If you want to see a lot more internal details of what executable was doing then on worker servers you can enable logging for EmcShortcutRestoreJBC.exe in registry by setting TraceVerbosity to 4 (DEC)
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\EMC\SourceOne\TraceLogs\EmcShortcutRestoreJBC.exe\Settings
You can also engage EMC support by opening ticket using support.emc.com site and support engineers can go through all of this with you.

Rajan
