EmailXtender 4.8 2TB storage capacity exceeded - how do I delete/purge

Have email archived going back 15 years.  Would like to delete at least 5 years from Centera but do not know how to do this.

Thanks for any input.

Do you have DiskXtender in use as an Extended Drive?

I believe so but don't know how to tell for certain.

The Container drive reports to Windows that it is 40GB.  But the EmailXtender folder on the Container driver reports to Windows that it is 2TB.  What is the container drive used for?

Do you have a program installed named DiskXtender on the EmailXtender server?

The DiskXtender Container Drive contains 'stubs' to the data on Centera, which means they are a few kb's in size but they are linked to Centera which causes the volumes to be 90 MB (if best practice was implemented).

Drop me an e-mail benjamin.ceyssens@panoptic.biz to help you further.

Yes DiskXtender is installed on that server. I believe the problem lays in we have reached the 2TB capacity of the license.

Licensing Information of the Service Properties states:

License Server indicates that storage capacity has been exceeded. File migration functionality is now disabled.

DiskXtender File System Manager

File System Manager Licenses: 2 (1 in use)

Storage Capacity: 2 TB (2 TB in use)

From the original post:

"Have email archived going back 15 years.  Would like to delete at least 5 years from Centera but do not know how to do this."

So it sounds like if you do not need the data you could delete it. Deleting data from EX is a two step process.

First, from EmailXtender you can open the EmailXtender Administrator. Browse down your navigation tree (e.g. Server Name -> EmailVault -> Index -> Archive Folder Name) and then adjust the view of the final folders to "View by Month" (View menu -> Message Center -> View by Month).  After this you will see that the data is organized in YYYYMM format on the right.  If you right click (probably the oldest months first) and choose "Dispose Monthly Data" this will then start to remove the data from EX.

Second, you noted that you have DX. In this case the data is written to a DX Extended Drive. From that drive you will need to find the associated data and delete it just like you would delete any other Windows files. Usually the folder names are in the format :\EmailXtender\EmailVault_Index_ArchiveFolderName_YYYYMM.  You can go into these folders and delete the associated .EMX files. This will trigger the deletes in DX, which in turn will remove them from your storage device barring any issues with retention (e.g If you have 15 year retention set and the data was from 2007 you should not be able to delete the data from disk as there is 8 years of retention left).

Now, as a disclaimer, be very careful with the above as you are choosing to delete data. If you delete the wrong folder, or choose to dispose the wrong month, this might have some repercussions.
