Stopping replication

Hi,

I was wondering what is the recommended method to stop any replication on Replistor?  Is it to Disable All Specifications OR shutting down the 2 Replistor services?  Please advise.

If there is a sync currently running you can highlight the sync details in the top right box and right click. Then choose Abort. RS will abort all the syncing and clear out the Kernel Cache and Kernel logs, if present.

If you have a lot of Kernel logs you may not want to wait for that clearing process to complete. If that is the case, then you can Disable the Specification in the middle Window. After disabling the Specification you can then Delete the Data Directory. That will Stop the RepliStor Service, clear all the OC$ files (Kernel logs) and then restart the RepliStor Server service.

Thanks…JS

JS,

If there is no syncs running, both sites are already in-sync, no new files are writing to the source server, and I just wanted to take a backup of the target server, what would you recommend?  Previously, I've tried disabling all the specifications.  But when I re-enable them, it tells me they are out of sync and needed to re-synchronized.  Also if the target server is down, there will be severe error messages saying the site is blocked or can't communicate.

That's why I wonder if disable the 2 services is cleaner.
