RM Server does not require an HBA

Hello,

Although a Replication Manager Server does not require an HBA for connection to a VNX/VMAX Storage Array in order to discover the array, would there be any beneficial reason to installing HBA's in the RM Server?

I know the RM server typically discovers arrays via RM clients/agents with HBA's and SAN-attached to arrays, but just making sure there that we do not need an HBA installed in the RM Server for any additonal benefits in Replication Manger.

Thanks for responses,

No need to have an HBA. The only reason you would need one is if you used the RM Server as your mount server as well. Some people do that. Since you are using a separate server as your mount server no need to have an HBA in the RM Server.

Hello Saturn,

As Ernes' reply, you only need an HBA on the RM server if you intend to use the RM server as a mount host too.
