Mounting replicas un VM on ESXi
I take a snapshot with Replication Manager of 9 LUNS cointaining files of one Phisical SQL Server. Thats works perfect.
Now i want to mount than SS LUN's, on a Virtual host running on a ESXi host.
In Unisphere I Add the snapshots LUNS to the ESXi Storage Group, but RM says that no Storage Group detected to mount host (Virtual Machine)...
Some time ago I resolve this, but I remember that not was a very good solution.
How can i resolve this to automate the proccess, because if I had multiple Snapshots to mount, i have to Add manually to Storage Group on Unisphere...
Snapshot Mount Points are not usable here, wright????
Thanks!
Versions:
ESXi 5.1
RM: 5.4.1
SQL: 2008 Enterprise

You have to add the snapshots to the mount VM as RDM Physical devices. At that point you'll be able to mount the snapshots using RM.
Correct, SMPs are not applicable here. RM does not work with VNX Snapshots; it only works with Snapview Snapshots and that's why SMPs are not applicable.
If you want to truly automate this solution attach the mount VM to the array via software iSCSI. In this case the VM will be acting like a stand-alone host directly attached to the array via software iSCSI. Otherwise you have to add the snapshots to the storage groups, attach the snapshots as RDM Physical devices to the VM and perform the mount within RM.

I Understand...
I will tray to do a HBA passtrough on VMware, and manage one hba directly from VMachine, then register this host in VNX and create a Storage group for this host....
Thanks a lot.

Might be easier just to configure Microsoft iSCSI initiator if you have iSCSI ports on the SPs. Either way will work though; the way you stated or by configuring Microsoft iSCSI
