PowerEdge T430 - Convert ODD space to 2.5" drive
Hi,
I have a Dell Poweredge T430 that still has a DVD writer installed. I'd like to remove this drive in favour of a 2.5" disk. I have a 3rd party conversion tray which fits, but it lacks the faceplate found on the front of the blanker units. Is there a part available that has internal fittings for a 2.5" drive, but retains the faceplate?
Other than that, I can see two options - one is the remove the faceplate from a blank unit and fix it in, or drill through a blank unit and use it to mount my 2.5" disk. I would rather not do this if there is already a part readily available.
Thanks!

Hello,
Dell did not have a configuration to put a hard drive in the Optical Data Drive slot, so we don't have a 5.25" to 2.5" hard drive carrier.
We do have a ODD blank:
Part #:P9C4X
Part Desc.:ASSY,CVR,BLNK,ODD,T620
This is a service part number. They don't typically come up on the website.
You would need to contact Sales and ask for the Spare Part Department to get a quote and purchase.

Hi,
you need a Dell Blank Drive Bay Kit we offer various blank drive bay kits and adapters that might work with 2.5" drives. You could order them by contacting our sales department.

Hi Martin S,
Just to clarify - I want to replace the 5.25" DVD writer unit at the top of my Dell PowerEdge T430 with a disk. At the moment this disk is 2.5". I've searched for "Dell Blank Drive Bay Kit" but I can't seem to find anything?
I don't want to replace a 3.5" disk with a 2.5" one.
Could you give me a part number or something that I can go to your Sales Department with?

Ah OK, I already have a ODD blank. I've found a 3rd party 5.25 to 3.5 adapter I'm going to use.
Thanks for your help
