Update FW Emulex HBA R740

Hello, I am looking for help to perform the HBA FW update, either through IDRAC or LC. I already tried updating them from Lifecycle and it won't let me update it.

This FW:  Emulex Fibre Channel Adapter Firmware. | Driver Details | Dell Guyana

I have version 7.4 RHEL and I want to migrate to version 8.9
I want to know if it can be updated from IDRAC or LCC since "administrators" cannot update using OS.
Is there another way to perform the update?
Thanks!!

It is writte for Lifecycle controller, but never tested yet.

[Alternative] Installation via Lifecycle Controller:
====================================================
1. Copy the downloaded firmware DUP for Windows to removable USB storage.
2. Insert the removable USB storage in a USB port of the server to be updated.
3. Reboot the server.
4. Press the F10 key to enter Lifecycle Controller.
5. In the left navigation pane, click Firmware Update.
6. In the main pane click Launch Firmware Update.
7. On the Step 1 of 3: Select Update Repository page, select Local Drive.
8. Click the Next button.
9. On the Step 2 of 3: Enter Access Details page, select the removable USB storage from the Local Drive drop-down list.
10. Type the path and filename of the firmware DUP in the File Path or Update Package Path text box.
Example: \.exe
11. Click the Next button.
12. On the Step 3 of 3: Select Updates page, select the checkbox next to one, or more, of the Available System Updates.
13. Click the Apply button to complete the installation process.

Hello, thank you for your response, try to do that procedure, although it says and I understood that the alternative is for Windows and you need to download the .exe file.
I got that error, I also tried it with the .Bin file and LCC did not recognize the file.

with lifecycle controller you have to use the .bin version.

Then you have the .bin.sign version for red hat.

the .exe version but it is only within windows OS

Thank you.
With the .exe file it sends the error that I attached in the image.

With the .bin file the LCC does not recognize the file and cannot be selected or used.

Hi,

At times, Lifecycle Controller might not be able to update the hardware firmware. You can try using iDRAC. Is iDRAC firmware up to date? I recommend updating iDRAC and BIOS first.

To use firmware update in iDRAC, you will need the .exe file. Just direct upload the .exe file. Video ref: https://dell.to/469FXWE

Can you provide us the HBA card DPN#, might need to check the compatibility.

Hello, thanks for your time, we ended up updating from Linux.
According to dell support, they gave us several procedures which I explained here and we were never able to update by idrac and LCC.
