Prosphere 2.0 + Unisphere for VMAX

Hi,

I've deployed Prosphere 2.0 using the OVF templates which include the Discovery engine, Historical DB and Prosphere Application.

I've Unisphere for VMAX already installed on another VM. SMI is installed on another VM. Now I want to integrate Prosphere with Unisphere for VMAX (for the performance data collection)

I've gone through the deployment guide of Prosphere concerning the integration but can't get same to work i.e performance data is not being displayed when launching Prosphere performance dashboard.

So my question is does link below applies for VMAX as well - mainly the switch to be discovered by Prosphere? We have not configured any switch to be discovered.

https://community.emc.com/thread/148277?start=0&tstart=0

Or something else that we may have missed? We've gone through the deployment guide and created all the different users, etc. So there's probably something we have missed... We are able to discover the Symmetrix array on Prosphere and when launching the SMC-SPA discovery we are able to discover the host where Unisphere for VMAX is installed but no data is displayed in the performance dashboard.

Thx,

Pascal

Pascal,

Please consider moving this question as-is (no need to recreate) to the proper forum for maximum visibility.  Questions written to the users' own "Discussions" space don't get the same amount of attention and questions can go unanswered for a long time.

You can do so by selecting "Move" under ACTIONS along the upper-right.  Then search for and select: "ProSphere Support Forum" which would be the most relevant for this question.

Hi,

Within ProSphere at least one switch, one host and along with the array must be must be successfully discovered and in the performance path for performance data to be collected by ProSphere.

Within the Object list ensure the objects in the path all shows as successfully discovered and PDC is turned on for one of the hosts in the path this can be done from Object list -> Hosts

After a few cycles of the collection data points will start to show in the graphs for the objects in the path.

If your objects are successfully discoverd in the path and PDC is turned on from a host in the path and no data. Select a host connected to the Array where the Path Performance Collection is enabled in the UI. Select Status to open the Path Performance Collection Results UI. In this view select the each object to see if the collection was successfull or failed. If it shows as failed select the object and a Detailed Message to the reasons its not collecting will appear in the UI

Open a SR with supports with the details of this error message, Screenshot of Path Performance Collection Results UI and all ProSphere logs collected from Admin -> System -> Manage logs

Please note within the Dashboard > Performance view you will not see data for arrays until 3 days of consistent data is collected by ProSphere.

Regards

Conor
