software
i bought a desktop several years ago with excel and i had to reset the computer in doing so when the computer started up excel was no longer available. i called customer service that acknowledge the software but directed me that i should of read my contract correctly and nothing could be done without buying the software. this has really lead me to believe that dell is untrustworthy of any future purchases.

Developers provide Dell (and other OEMs) with software at reduced cost on the condition that the software is tied to the original install. In this case, Dell's customer service was correct.
