MyDell app doesn't start if laptop's screen is turned off

Inspiron 16 Plus 7620

Inspiron 16 Plus 7620

I use 2 external monitors and usualy disable the primary laptop's screen. I noticed every time I disable the built in screen MyDell doesn't start without reporting any error. I can see the splash screen for a few seconds then the application exits silently. It gets fixed only if I enable the internal screen and moreover the app starts up on external monitor that is set to primary. Any idea how to fix that? How can I report this as MyDell app bug as it's constantly reproducible?

Try uninstalling and reinstalling the app to see if that will resolve the issue..

Hi codespacer:

What is the version and build of your Windows OS shown at Settings | System | About | Windows Specifications, and are you using the My Dell v3.0.412.2 application currently listed <here> on the support page for your Inspiron 16 Plus 7620?

Several users have reported in moosaa's 26-May-2023 Error 2762 When Installing MyDell that installation of My Dell v3.0.412.2 either fails with an error or the installer runs to completion but does not launch correctly. Hage1983's posted <here> in that thread  on 11-Jul-2023 that they uninstalled the current My Dell v3.0.412.2 and the  the previous My Dell v3.0.382.1 (MyDell-Application-Full-Installer_DR7D2_WIN_3.0.382.1_A00.EXE, rel. 30-Jan-2023 ; available at https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-ca/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=dr7d2) runs correctly on their Inspiron 13 5330 / Win 11 laptop.

Note that the new My Dell v3.x application is not recommended on the support page <here> for my Inspiron 15 5584 / Win 10 laptop and I must use the small My Dell v2.2.2.4.0 UWP (Microsoft Store) app described in the Dell support article How to Download and Install the My Dell Application. My Dell v2.2.4.0 requires Fusion Service v2.2.14.0 and the installation instructions for this UWP app warns that "Dell Power Manager should be uninstalled before installing the My Dell application".
