MyDell and Dell Update installation problems

Did a stack of driver & software updates today. All installed OK except MyDell and Dell Update. The issue on both seems to be starting the services after installation, but there is no option to leave them installed without starting the services.

MyDell seemed to have installed and was in the process of starting services but stopped with an error message: "The wizard was interrupted before MyDell could be completely installed" and the option to Retry or Cancel.

Dell Update got to a similar point then stopped with an error message: Service Dell Client Management Service failed to start, verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services, again only with the options to retry or cancel.

Hi Bushy2006:

If you haven't already done so ensure that you DISABLE your Windows Fast Startup power option (see Option # 2 of Brink's ElevenForums tutorial <here>) and then re-boot a few times to ensure any registry changes associated with your your driver updates take effect.  The Fast Startup power option (also known as hybrid boot-up / hybrid shutdown) is enabled by default in Win 10 and Win 11 but it can sometimes interfere with the loading and initialization of drivers and services at boot-up and cause all sorts of unexpected glitches and problems, including Windows updates.

Did you download the installers for MyDell v3.2.308.1 (MyDell-Application-Full-Installer_NKGPD_WIN_3.2.308.1_A00.EXE, rel. 01-Apr-2024) and Dell Update for Windows Universal v5.3.0 (Dell-Update-Windows-Universal-Application_74YT0_WIN_5.3.0_A00.EXE, rel. 30-Apr-2024) that are currently posted on the support page for your Inspiron 16 Plus 7630 at https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/product-support/product/inspiron-16-7630-laptop/drivers?  If so, does it help if you save the .exe installers to your desktop and then right-click and choose "Run as Administrator"?

Did you  log in to Windows with a user account that as Administrator rights before running the .exe installers?

Do you have the latest Dell Inspiron 16 Plus 7630 System BIOS v1.15.0 (rel. 11-Jun-2024) posted on your  Inspiron 16 Plus 7630 support page?  To check your current BIOS version open a Run dialog box (Windows key + R), enter msinfo32 to view your System Information, and look for the field named "BIOS Version / Date".

If you have SupportAssist v4.0.x installed what is the current version?  I don't know  if it's relevant to your problem, but if SupportAssist is installed please read Dell employee DELL-Chris M's 10-Jun-2024 SupportAssist, "Hardware scan fails", "We ran into a problem" about some of the known bugs that can occur when the current SupportAssist v4.0.3 and Dell Update v5.x are both installed.  It's always possible the buggy SupportAssist v4.0.3 is causing a glitch when you try to install other Dell utilities that share the Dell Client Management Service with SupportAssist.
