Has Dell Update for Windows Universal v4.7.0 (rel. 31-Oct-2022) Been Pulled?

Does anyone know if the installer for Dell Update for Windows Universal v4.7.0 (Dell-Update-Windows-Universal-Application_MMJM6_WIN_4.7.0_A00_01.EXE, rel. 31-Oct-2022) has been pulled from the Dell download servers, and if so, why?

I just checked the support page <here> for my Inspiron 5584, as well as the support page of a few other Dell models like the Inspiron 3583 and and XPS 8950 where v4.7.0 was also posted, and they're all currently offering the old Windows Universal v4.6.0 (Dell-Update-Windows-Universal-Application_MGVT1_WIN_4.6.0_A00.EXE, rel. 24-Aug-2022).

My Dell Update for Windows Universal v4.6.0 auto-updated to v4.7.0 on 02-Nov-2022 at launch. I saved a copy of the v4.7.0 release notes that were posted < ADMIN NOTE:  Broken link has been removed from this post by Dell> (which now displays a "Driver Unavailable" message when I browse to that URL) and noted that the "Important Information" section of those v4.7.0 release notes stated that " Dell Update Classic interface is not supported from version 4.7 and later. If you have Dell Update Classic, Dell Update version 4.7 UWP is installed". That suggests that the "classic" Dell Update v4.x [i.e., the "classic" Win32 installer for Win 8.1 and higher, rather than the Universal Windows Platform (UWP) version for Win 10 and higher] is being discontinued.

Were the v4.7.0 installers pulled because there was a glitch while moving Win 10/11 "classic" Dell Update users over to the UWP version?

Seems I have the same situation:  My Insp5570 is running v4.6.0.  Dell program check for driver updates says I needed v4.7.1.  Elected for Dell to download and install v4.7.1.  All indications were normal as-if successful.  Restarted system, checked Control Panel but found "Dell Update Windows Universal application v4.6.0 STILL listed as installed (and STILL with install dated 4 months ago). Conclusion:  Prgm did not update!  Next, I ran the Dell Driver Program Checks again, and was again told that v4.6.0 needs to be updated to v4.7.1. NOTE 1:  I did NOT to repeat the update a 2nd time.  NOTE 2:  Review of all Dell software installed does NOT suggest that my system is Running the "CLASSIC Dell UpDate software".

Hi DrGuidance:

When you say "Dell driver program check" are you running a check for updates from SupportAssist v3.x or from Dell Update v4.x?

What is your Windows operating system [if Win 10 or Win 11 please include the edition (e.g., Home, Pro, etc,.), OS version (e.g.,  21H2, 22H2, etc.) and OS build number shown at Settings | System | About | Windows Specifications]?  When you go to Control Panel | Programs | Programs and Features does it show that you have Dell Update for Windows Universal [i.e., the Universal Windows Platform (UWP) app] or the "classic" Dell Update Win32 application? From my Inspiron 5584, which has the UWP app and specifically says "Dell Update for Windows Universal":

When I go to the Drivers & Download page <here> for my Inspiron 5584 it currently lists both Dell Update Windows Universal Application v4.7.1 (rel. 24-Nov-2022) and the "classic" Dell Update Application v4.6.0 (rel. 24-Aug-2022) ...

...but when I go to the Drivers & Download page <here> for your Inspiron 5570 it only lists the "classic" Dell Update Application v4.6.0 (rel. 24-Aug-2022). I don't know why that is, but that might explain why you're having a problem with the update to v4.7.1.

I checked the "Compatible Systems" section of the download page <here> for Dell Update Windows Universal Application v4.7.1 (Dell-Update-Windows-Universal-Application_0991N_WIN_4.7.1_A00.EXE, rel. 24-Nov-2022) and your Inspiron 5570 is listed as a compatible model, so I don't know why the v4.7.1 standalone installer hasn't been posted on the support page for your Inspiron 5570 yet.

If you're certain you have the Dell Update Windows Universal Application v4.6.0 (i.e., the UWP app and not the "classic" Win32 application) you might want to try an over-the top update. Download that v4.7.1 standalone installer (Dell-Update-Windows-Universal-Application_0991N_WIN_4.7.1_A00.EXE) from that download page, save it to your desktop, and close your browser. Then right-click the installer and choose "Run as Administrator" to see if the installer runs to completion.

If Control Panel | Programs | Programs and Features still doesn't show that you have v4.7.1 after running that standalone .exe installer make sure that the Fast Startup power option is disabled as instructed in the Brink's TenForums tutorial How to Turn On or Off Fast Startup in Windows 10 and then re-boot your system to see if that allows the v4.7.1 update to complete its installation. Fast Startup is enabled by default in Win 10 and Win 11 but this power option (also known as hybrid boot-up / hybrid shutdown) can interfere with the loading of services and drivers of third-party software at boot-up and cause all sorts of odd glitches and unexpected problems.  Microsoft has acknowledged that Fast Startup can even interfere with Windows Update (see the MS support article Updates May Not Be Installed With Fast Startup in Windows 10) and I always suggest that users with a Win 8.1 or higher OS should disable Fast Startup.
