The Dell update app is no longer compatible with MS Windows. You must now get all your updates through the Dell Support Assistant.

I have 2 machines running Windows 11. Command | Update is available on one, but not the second. Is a fix coming?

Any update to this? I just updated my three Inspiron 3670 PCs, with their Dell Update app. WHich included the most recent BIOS update. After it rebooted, one machine no longer had the Dell Update app. While the other two still have it.

They are all on the most recent Windows 11 updates, too. So it seems weird that only one Dell Update app was deprecated.

Hi aaronwt:

According to the support page <here> for your Inspiron 3670 the recommended Dell Update product for your system is currently Dell Update for Windows Universal v4.8.0 (rel. 31-Jan-2023). When you go to Control Panel | Programs | Programs and Features what is the full name and version number of the Dell Update (or Dell Command | Update / Alienware Update) listed there , if any is present? From my Inspiron 5584 / Win 10 Pro v22H2 laptop, which shows I currently have Dell Update for Windows Universal v4.8.0:

Note that several users, including myself, had problems updating from Dell Update for Windows Universal v4.7.1 to v4.8.0. See sewing1243's 05-Mar-2023 Dell Update Windows Universal Application 4.8 Update in the Dell SupportAssist for PCs board for one example, as well as my 25-Mar-2023 suggestion <here> in that thread for a possible method for installing Dell Update for Windows Universal v4.8.0.  If you follow those instructions I'd suggest you download the v4.8.0 installer (Dell-Update-Windows-Universal-Application_0RCG0_WIN_4.8.0_A00.EXE) from the support page <here> for your Inspiron 3670 just to make sure you get the correct installer.

Also note that KSSQBYNY's 01-Nov-2022 post <above> only refers to the old "classic" Win32 installer version of Dell Update that used to be compatible with Win 8.x and higher, which has now been replaced by a modern Universal Windows Platform (UWP) Microsoft Store app for Win 10 and higher. If you expand the "Important Information" section of the release notes <here> for the old Dell Update Windows Universal Application v4.7.1 (rel. 24-Nov-2022) you will see it says "Dell Update Classic interface is not supported from version 4.7 and later. If you have Dell Update Classic, Dell Update version 4.7 UWP is installed." Unfortunately, that automatic switch from the "classic" Dell Update to the new Dell Update for Windows Universal UWP app back in November 2022 didn't go smoothly on many Win 10 and Win 11 machines.
