Dell Backup and Recovery error

Inspiron 7537 shipped with Win 8.1, upgraded to Win 10 Pro 64bit

DBaR v1.9.2.8

When I upgraded my Win 8.1 PC to Win 10, DBaR suggested creating a new recovery disc, so I put in my 8GB Win8.1 USB stick and pressed Go.  There was an error, whatever I did, so I deleted the partition on the USB stick (losing my existing recovery media...) and still had the problem.

I bought a 16GB USB stick, but that has not helped, so I find myself stuck now with no recovery option.

Another forum suggested a conflict with Dell Power Management Lite - but I don't have that software.

Does anyone have any idea what might help?

Does anyone with similar setup have it working??

OEM recovery media and OEM Recovery Partitions are quickly becoming obsolete.

Taking feedback for Windows seriously with Windows 10 Microsoft have made a pretty good digital distribution... A new updated installation .iso will be released every couple of months. The latest mainstream .iso is Windows 10 RS1 build 14393 and more details about downloading it and using it for a clean installation are here:

With Windows 10, Microsoft have worked with Intel quite closely so most drivers are also either inbuilt to the installation media or automatically obtained via Windows Update. There are a few drivers such as the Intel Management Engine Interface Driver which should be obtained direct from Intel and a few newer drivers from Dell which should be installed however.

Moreover Direct Clean installation of Windows 10 Pro RS1 will perform substantially better than a reversion to Windows 8.1 Pro Factory Settings and a subsequent Upgrade Install to Windows 10 RS1.

Complete the following steps to resolve the issue:

In the search bar, type: command then right click cmd.exe on the menu and select "Run as Administrator". This will open a command prompt window.
Type the command: cd C:\Recovery\OEM then press the Enter key.
Type the command: del install*.* then press the Enter key.
Press the "Y" key then press the Enter Key.
Type the command: EXIT and then press the Enter key. (This will close the command prompt window.)
You should now be able to create a USB recovery drive for Windows 10.

Thanks for the reply.  Sadly it doesn't apply to my UK laptop - there's no recovery directory in the root of the C: drive.   I wouldn't have deleted it, either.

There's a DELL directory that looks like it was created by an installer for a Support Assist hotfix in Feb 2015, and a drivers directory just holding system driver media.

I do have the following partitions on my HDD that I can see no clear way of gaining access to: -

OEM Partition 40MB

Recovery Partition 750MB

Recovery Partition 450MB

Recovery Partition 7.6GB

OEM Partition 8GB
