WD19DC Fan Failing

The fan of my WD19DC is failing, it randomly starts blowing at max power for 10-15 seconds and when I reboot my laptop it shows the warning message included.

But when I'm trying to enter the service tag to start the RMA process it keeps saying it's not recognized.

What to do next?

Hi,

"Your dock fan has failed..." is normal error case in WD19DC family.

  1. Just shutdown your PC.
  2. Disconnect the laptop from dock.
  3. Unplug the dock power cable from the wall socket.
  4. Wait 10 seconds
  5. Plug the power cable to back to wall socket
  6. Connect the dock to you laptop
  7. No more fan failure error for a several weeks or even moths

If still does not help reset the dock. Push and keep dock power button down about 15 seconds when you do the step 5.

If you have still problems call the Dell service with phone.

It's not a normal error, it's definitely a defect. As a matter of fact I already had contact with dell behind the scenes and received a new dock.

The new dock however has a different problem, and dell support is no longer responding.
