Heat sink or not for SSD
I just purchased a new Precision 7708 and am going to add an addition SSD once it arrives.
Do I need to purchase an SSD with a heat sink, or can I put one in the laptop without a heat sink?

Heatsink-equipped SSDs won't fit your notebook -- they will only fit a desktop system. Usually there's a metal plate that fits over the SSD inside the system, but there or not, it's not going to do much for cooling.
The desktop SSDs are generally upward of 1 cm in depth -- they won't fit your system.

Check your system again. Precision 7780 is shipped with SSD brackets. They are thermal plates and acting as heatsink. You don't need to purchase SSD with heatsink.
