user validated platinum in 7920 tower
which includes 8153 and 8160
8124 is in the same 8100 series as 8153/8160.

If you are going to get a Dell system (T7920), why not upgrading to one of the supported CPU listed on the system specifications. Because the family of 5820/7820/7920 have been released for a period spanning across generations of Xeon processors, there are different motherboard versions that would supported only older generation processors and may required BIOS code update to accept newer processors. While many have had the update, some earlier boards can not support different generations of Xeon processors.
If you found some of processors were not listed in the manual because they were configured and shipped with rack, not tower.
