Dell Precision Workstation Tower 7960 - PCIe 4 x 4 Expansion Slots
Slot 2 and Slot 3 PCIe Expansion Slots have Gen 4 x 8 Connectors but are indicated as electrically wired as Gen 4 x 4 expansion Slots.
Does this mean that a PCIe Gen 4 x 8 Expansion card will not work in these slots even though it will physically fit in the slot?
What type of FH PCIe Gen 4 x 4 Expansion Cards are available for use in these slots if a Gen 4 x 8 Card will not work?
What is the best use of these two expansion slots since most PCIe Cards are FH Gen 4 x 8?

A PCIe x8 adapter card will work on your system slot 2 and slot 3. However, only one NVMe drive will be recognized in the adapter.
For FH Dell adapter cards, you can use Dell Ultra-Speed Quad for PCIe x16 slots and Dell Ultra-Speed Duo for PCIe x8 slots. The Ultra-Speed Duo is also known as Zoom card.
For generic adapter cards, a $10 USD PCIe x4 card should be able to work with slot 2 and slot 3 to support one NVMe drive on each slot.
