storage vMotion much slower on NVME TCP/IP than iSCSI
HI
I did storage vMotion for machine Windows 2022 Hard disk 500 GB Thick eager zero provisioned on iSCSI and NVME TCP
iSCSI is much faster as it finishes in 2 minutes but on NVME hosts that takes more than 10 minutes
What would be the reason for that

Hi,
Thanks for your question.
Are they going to the same Vmotion target? Are the ISCSI and TCP networks using the same switches? It sounds like an issue in the networking.
Let us know if you have any additional questions.

Yes this is what my issue is and one of my colleagues cabled it i would say not correct. iSCSI traffic and NVME traffic go from the same port from ESXi host
Based on this we are supposed to use exactly these ports for NVME TCP/IP traffic

on the back of the Unit we have this situation
Cluster network is 25 GBps but as you can see I/O module ports are only 10 GBps which is not recommended for NVME TCP network
ALso from our blade chassis iSCSI and NVME traffic are going through the same virtual interconnect which I think it is wrong. I think should be 25 GBps on IO modules

for IO modules which i assume they connect to storage we have only these two ports and they show 10 Gbps which means storage only has 10 GBPS
My host NIC is 25 GBps but as far as I can see now 25 GBps link is not utilized because IO module only see 10 Gbps

And as far as I understand storage IO requests dont go through cluster network but via IO modules however to me looks like Cluster is managing IO which would be first time not sure if I understand cabling

Hello slavonskibecar,
just wondering if you solved in someway. Maybe it's a different case but we are suffering the same events.
