Running different version of PP on VIO clients than VIO server
Is any one currently runnign there VIO servers at a higher Power path version than what the VIO clients are running?
exmaple would be PP 5.7 on clients and PP 6.0 on the VIO servers... If so what challenges or issues have you faced if any..

PowerPath does not care what type of application is using the devices presented (managed by PP). So, I would say there is no issues on running different versions.
Having said that, in a cluster type setup (where one host must communicate to another), it is always good to run the same version of applications to minimize possible issues due to misconfiguration or incompatibility.
However, I am not familiar with how VIO client/server works to truly determine if you will face any issues.
Hope this helps.

VIO server preesnts the assigned Vscsi device - which is a Power device... Once presented to the VIO client it is again configured as a power device At the client level... Thats it we use Vscsi devices for boot devices at the client level... Remaining assigned storage is cofigured via NPIV and the VIO servevr does not see these data devices...

Please be aware that the reserve policy must be set to no reserve or there will be issues with the devices being seen and accessible.
