Powerpath host not seeing non-EMC luns

I have a host environment configured with powerpath. We recently introduced a non-EMC storage array and are attempting to connect some luns to the hosts with powerpath installed. However, powerpath is not recognizing the non-EMC luns.

Is there a way to configure powerpath to recognize these luns?

PowerPath supports "some" 3-rd party arrays, you can find them in E-lab navigator

May be powerpath would have installed only with EMC array support (default installation).

no, default installation will support "supported" 3-rd party arrays.

Hello,

First, make sure that the 3rd party storage you have is supported by your version of PowerPath.  Check ELAB and the Product Guide.  Support for 3rd party arrays varies from version to version.  If it is supported, then you can modify your PowerPath installation to include 3rd party array support from Programs and Features (2008) or Add/Remove Programs (2003)

Pretty sure it's not supported. They are a small company who make SSD based 8Gb arrays. We are using the array currently with Linux multipathing, the config is as follows:

    device {
            vendor              "KMNRIO"
            product             "K2"
            no_path_retry       fail
            hardware_handler    "0"
            rr_weight           priorities
            rr_min_io           1
            path_grouping_policy multibus
            getuid_callout      "/sbin/scsi_id -g -u -s /block/%n"
            path_checker        directio
            path_selector       "round-robin 0"
            failback            15
    }

Is there a way to "add" a configuration somehow which will allow powerpath to recognize the luns?

Im afraid that if not, we may be forced to remove powerpath and use native multipathing. That will be a big headache.

i am afraid you will need to continue to rely on dm-mpio
