Reconfigure RAID-10 R630/H730Mini - no option

Hi Community,

I have 2 R630 Server:

Server1: 8 x Intel SSDSC2KB019TZ (800GB) RAID-10, 1 virtual disk 2.978 GB, iDRAC8 V 2.70.70.70, BIOS 2.11.0, PERC FW 25.5.6.0009, OMSA 11

Server2: 8 x Intel SSDSC2BB800G4 (1,92TB) RAID-10, 1 virtual disk 3.375 GB, iDRAC8 V 2.81.81.81, BIOS 2.13.0, PERC FW 25.5.8.0000, OMSA 11

At the second server I just changed the disks from 800GB to 1,92TB. The plan was to expand the virtual disk to have a bit more space available (Keyword: OCE - Online Capacity Expansion). But I have no "Reconfigure" Option in OMSA nor via iDRAC -> BIOS -> Device Settings as mentioned in the manual.

Server 1 with older BIOS, PERC FW and even iDRAC Version has the option.

Server 1 options:

Server 2 options:

Im searching the web including this forum for a few days now but only found people with the same problem in very old results and with no solution.

- RAID-10 with 8 disks shoud not be a problem since few years

- Firmware Versions are not the newest but also not too old (Server 1 with older versions has the option)

I try to avoid deleting the virtual disk and setting up everything new because the manual says its possible.

Any Ideas what i can try to get the Reconfigure option shown?

Hello,

Two things are always recommended when reconfiguring disks:

1.Make sure you have a valid backup

2.Make sure drivers and firmware is up to date

Are you using Dell branded hard drives with Dell firmware or third party hard drives?

Can you still access the data?

Can you post image of the OMSA virtual disk section , physical disks, and controller section with the dropdowns expanded?

Are you using the latest OMSA: v9.3.0 with (Patch), v9.3.0.2?

How did you replace the disk drives? Was it one at a time and let it rebuild into the array before trying to expand? With those size of virtual disk I would suspect it will take a very long time for each drive to rebuild into the array before you could do an online capacity expansion.

These are a few references you can use:

Hello Charles R,

- backup -> done

- drivers and firmware as described above not the newest but with the older versions on server1 i have the reconfigure option

- Hard drives not Dell but in both Server Intel drives

- i can access the data, everything works fine

- latest available OMSA is at the moment 11.0.0.0, its installed on Windows Server 2019 Datacenter (both server)

- disks are replaced one by one, rebuilt was around one hour, it takes 8 days because every day I only changed one disk, last disk change was 2 weeks ago

Link 1 is iDrac 9, I have iDRAC8 V 2.70.70.70 / V 2.81.81.81 so it looks a bit different,

The video says that only RAID 0, 1, 5 and 6 is supported, but the manual/firmware notes says RAID 10 is also possible:

firmware: 25.3.0.0016 Enhancements:
- Online Capacity Expansion for <32 disk RAID10 volumes

Image upload seems not to work, i will try it with a link later.

Server 1 - which has the Option:
OMSA virtual Disk

OMSA Physical Disks

OMSA Firmware PERC

Server 2 - here I miss it:

OMSA Virtual Disk

OMSA Physical Disks

OMSA Firmware PERC

Sorry for the links, image upload don't show anything, image link also not working.

Hello, you are using a non Dell disk for sever 2, and that's where we are seeing the yellow exclamation mark, which needs to turn green, and I'm unsure how much of help we can be of when there's a 3rd party part component is involved.
Respectfully,

Hello,

i suggest you to upgrade PERC fw, iDRAC, BIOS of the server 2 and check if reconfigure option is present after the updates.

Thanks
