PCIe Training Error: Embedded I/O Bridge Device 6

Hello, I got a Dell PowerEdge 1950 server and upon start up it shows a "PCIe Training Error: Embedded I/O Bridge Device 6   System Halted" error. I was able to find out that it was caused by the Dell 0MY412 Controller by removing it from the system and it booted without any problem. I tried reseating it as well as all other PCIe risers but that didn't help. I also tried to use the Dell Diagnostic bootable tool but I couldn't boot it because of the failing POST. I finally ordered a replacement 0MY412 but that still didn't work... Maybe the problem is somewhere else or did I get unlucky and the replacement part is also broken?

Is there a way for me to fix this or learn more about the problem to find a solution? I need to use the front drive bays for booting an OS. (I know that there is a SATA port on the motherboard that could potentially be used but I am not sure how to power the drive that way)

Thank you in advance

try clearing the System Event Log (SEL) I blv on the 1950, the error continues to be shown on boot as long as it exists in the SEL.

Hello,

We have seen on the old SAS5 controller that bulging capacitors on the controller can cause PCIe Training Error.

Check your original one and the replacement to see if you notice that.

You found it would complete POST with SAS5 removed.

Do you have a different adapter card you can put in the slot to see if it completes POST?

@DELL-Rey G I tried clearing the SEL before booting for both controllers but the error persists.

Hello, this is the part description that you are using:
MY412 Part Desc.:ASSY,CRD,SAS5I,SAS

Can you try using another card on that riser slot? If you still see the same symptom, we could also assume that the riser card might be at fault.
Respectfully,
