Dell R430 Dual CPU list
Hi all, I have had this R430 laying around for awhile running plex and simple things it has 128GB and 2xE5-2640v4 10C 20T 90W chips but when i learned about docker and what i could do, i was looking for more horse power, so i bought two 145W E5-2697A v4 chips of a friends that does server breakage from old company, they are tested working and i can only boot off 1 at a time, when you put two in the server doesnt boot at all, it flashes the post screen but does nothing after that and cuts idracs also.
Im looking into the e5-2690 v4 right now its 14c-28t 135w chip, heard a online people are having good luck with that. so any suggestions are welcome.
what am im looking for is a list of dual cpu combos that work there is nothing on the dell supports website.
thank you,
Flowy

Hi,
PowerEdge R430 is able to support Xeon E5-2690V3 and V4. The server do not support E5-2697A v4, but it supports E5-2697V3
I may suggest checking your power supply configuration, also the BIOS and iDRAC/LCC is up-to-date.

Hello,
https://dell.to/4afUZvc
e-r430/r430ownersmanual/processor-specifications?guid=guid-9e7731c2-8be9-490f-8dc9-9d38be89c627&lang=en-us
The PowerEdge R430 system supports up to two Intel Xeon E5-2600 v3 or Intel Xeon E5-2600 v4 product family processors.
This is the part # I see:
Part #:3JP2W
Part Desc.:PRC,E52640V4,2.4,25M,BDW,R0
Can you proceed upgrading BIOS and idrac to date as well?
Respectfully,
