Dell T130 Fans - stuck at 50% regardless of temperature.

I have a Dell T130 with the latest firmware. The fans are stuck at 50% PWM no matter what, even though the minimum is set at 5%. Right now, it is very cold (8 degree inlet temp and 20 degree CPU) and I would expect the fan speed to slow down - but never see it change from 50%. Even if I stress test the server the fane speed doesn't change either. Any ideas?

Hello, thanks for choosing Dell. Is there an extra card or such that you added recently?

Hi. There is the PERC H330 Adapter in Slot 2, that came with the machine. And also basic a NVME to PCIE Card in Slot 1.

Hi, a few things affect the minimum fan speed:

iDRAC/BMC not working. The fans are running at full speed.
One of the temperature sensors is defective or the server is very hot.
The server has unsupported hardware or is near maximum hardware configuration. The thermal profile is created based on the installed hardware. The minimum fan speed and the fan behavior are adjusted according to this profile.
Ensure iDRAC/LCC and BIOS are up to date. Thermal profile and hardware detection may change with updates. You can also check the hardware logs for warnings or warnings.

Sometimes after iDRAC firmware can be cause fan speed to max then we can suggest previous iDRAC FW  version.

Thanks. This post and the two commands seem to have worked https://www.dell.com/community/PowerEdge-Hardware-General/T130-Fan-Speed-Algorithm/m-p/5052700/highlight/true#M49208

SSH in to iDRAC and run following commands

/admin1-> racadm set  System.ThermalSettings.FanSpeedOffset Off
/admin1-> racadm set  System.ThermalSettings.ThirdPartyPCIFanResponse 0

Now looks like this, with fans at 5% (it's very cold in the garage!)
