poor performance

Hi all,

We are experiencing poor performance in one of Oracle environements, higher service time on Solaris 10 LDOMs. Oracle support suggests that it's the backend storage mis-configuration. I'd like to understand some entry point to troubleshoot this issue/s.

The DBAs and the application users suggest that the performance is sluggish at times of higher loads. This is a current snapshot and i have in the past experienced a performance degradation when the service times crept to double figures.

The disks are zfs vdevs

The disks have a VPID of : Product ID:           Invista.

These disks are virtualised behind a VPLEX.

Hello,

Thanks for the post. I have engaged a few experts and hope to have a reply to you by tomorrow morning. Can you send a more information to me in an email? For example, your email, the company you work for, and the storage infrastructure you use. My email is: sam.lucido@dell.com

thanks,

Sam

Hello TIA

Could you provide more details about the system configuration:

- What is the EMC storage?

- How was the disk array configured for Oracle Redo, Data, FRA...?

- What did Oracle support say about the storage mis-configration?  Did they look at AWR? It would by easier to find out the root cause (disk IO, buffer cache, shared pool, SQL statement or even applications...) of the performance issue by analyzing  AWR.  If we can make sure it is disk IO issue, then we can look into storage or VPLEX for further details.

Good luck!

Simon

Hi zhaos,

-What is the EMC storage?

     VNX

- How was the disk array configured for Oracle Redo, Data, FRA...?

VNX are one raid group. Different LUNs coming from it.

Working with Oracle support regarding the AWR

Thanks in advance
