Is Solutions Enabler a Required Install for EMC Replication Manager

If it is Required, Can SE Run in Proxy Mode?

A customer raised the following questions concerning installing EMC Replication Manager for use with Oracle and a VMAX:

  • Is a Solutions Enabler install needed on the RM Server in an Oracle on VMAX environment? If so, can we just use proxy mode in SE?

  • Is Solutions Enabler needed on the RM Agents as well?  If so, does it run any commands that would require local GKs to get accurate info(ie, sympd?)

Fernando already popped out the correct answer over email, but I will post it here for completeness:

You only need SE on the agent hosts, 4 to 6 GTK, and no proxy mode. This is covered in the EMC RM Admin Guide.
