Empowering Oracle DBAs with VNX
Just watched the video on the Unified community called, "Empowering Oracle DBAs with VNX." This is a short video (less than 7 minutes) that covers topics like Oracle performance, backup, continuous availability, and cost. I would recommend this video to anyone who might be interested in using VNX storage for their Oracle databases. In addition to this video we have some supporting papers and blogs that showcase the VNX solutions for Oracle:
- VNX: Scaling Performance on Oracle 12c RAC on VMware vSphere 5.5 - EMC Next-Generation VNX8000, EMC FAST Suite, and EMC SnapSure.
- This white paper describes the benefits of virtualizing on Oracle 12c RAC database using VMware vSphere. The VNX8000 model of the EMC next-generation VNX series with EMC FAST Suite provides high performance network file storage that is accessed using Oracle Direct NFS (dNFS) client.
- Part 1: Next Generation VNX - Oracle Database Storage Performance
- I’ll be comparing some of the findings in EMC VNX7500 Scaling Performance for Oracle 11gR2 RAC on VMWare vSphere 5.1 (published in December 2012) with EMC VNX Scaling Performance for Oracle 12c RAC on VMware vSphere 5.5(published in December 2013)
Finally, we have add some excellent blogs by WBGaynor about estimating Oracle IOPS that can be very helpful for designing an Oracle on VNX storage architecture.
