Optiplex 5070 SFF Motherboard Headers
Greetings,
I am interested in what the "Type C" and "Video" headers can be used for. Anyone know?
Thanks

"in the past, the Dell manuals provided a good visual explanation of the connectors on the motherboard."
actually what the connector is for has been documented.
PINOUTS are never documented or published on ANY dell.
What you are referring to as a header is actually a propriteary standard for a daughter board that supports display port or vga or hdmi.

I don't see those in the Dell available documentation.

I gave you what is published. All I can do. If you want more call Dell support for your area.
This is a users helping users forum, not a direct link to Dell support or sales.

the video port, is for the VGA daughter board, see, how it is missing on yours.
the other is my guess factory test port. IDK really, call dell ask.,
the service manuals now (bad) show not like before, photo of the MOBO and all jacks clearly shown and told.
its the new wave of zero info Dell.

Yep ... in the past, the Dell manuals provided a good visual explanation of the connectors on the motherboard.
It look like they (Dell) don't want you to upgrade your Dell system. I find Dell by the years more and more unattractive.

Greetings gents,
I found a link on another chat for a daughter board.
I ordered it from Dell today. Wish me luck with that. Hopefully it comes with necessary cables. I will post a picture of what I get.
I agree that the manuals are lacking. The current one for 5070 doesn't include a motherboard layout, like the 5060 has.

Dude, you had no answer for my original question. You posted the documentation, which I already had, and which did not have any info to answer my question. Then I found info elsewhere and bought something being unsure of what I would get. Then I received it and installed it and posted images of the result.
Instead of saying "hey, that's cool" or similar, you list the same parts I already provided a link for. How is that appropriate? Is this about you trying to pretend you knew, when you didn't?

This info is based upon phone discussions with DELL Tech Support. Clearly they don't recommend buying and carving up accessories, since they can't be responsible for what your mods do to the system board. But I believe this info to be accurate. I called because I have an ASUS PCE-AX3000 WiFi 6 card with Bluetooth 5.0, which has a power adapter cord from the BT radio meant to connect to a 4-pin USB port on the mainboard, which does not exist on the Optiplex 5070 SFF. DELL keeps telling me they have a PCE WiFi card for this system, but will not guarantee compatibility.

Great work! Do you know if is a USB-C Gen 1 or Gen 2? That would be cool if its a gen 2.
Why does it have two connectors? One is the Type-C but where does the other one go to?

Dell does not document or publish pin-outs for any model.

Is it possible to get an extender cable for these connectors? I have the USB C option board, but on my Optiplex 7060, the usb C lead does not reach the hear=der on the motherboard

I would guess you bought the wrong version for your form factor. Assuming the R9J4K for the micro for ex has shorter cables than the SFF or MT versions.
From pictures they are labeled with the form factor, ie SFF or MFF etc. on one of the cables.
