Dell OptiPlex 3020 discrete graphic cards

Hi,

I own a Dell OptiPlex 3020 and in its owner's manual, there is a list of 4 discrete graphics cards that can be used to upgrade. One of them is an AMD Radeon R7 250 2GB, but unfortunately, it doesn't fit (as shown in the photos). can anyone please explain what went wrong here?

The other specification of the card is:
SAPPHIRE R7 250 2GB Radeon R7250X AMD Video Card Map 128bit HDMI VGA DVI GDDR5

I've been on this forum almost 4 years.  I don't have an exact date, but the 3020 was introduced around 2012, which makes for an old GPU list.  The GPU you tried is meant to fit an MT.

As for making GPU work externally - https://www.walmart.com/ip/345579450

They also come in different lengths.

It looks like your 3020 is an SFF.  It won't fit a full-height GPU.

LP (low profile) GT 1030 GDDR5 (30w) works well in a 3020 and with the PSU.  The GT1030 needs not to be the little fat one, but the skinnier one that comes with short bracket.

Thanks for the reply, by the photo it looks more like a USFF than an SFF. I don't know what to do with this graphic card now. Is there any way to make it operate externally somehow?
How do you know that this GT 1030 GDDR5 works with OptiPlex 3020 if it isn't listed on the matching discrete graphic cards?

@tomer-k

The low profile R7 250 works fine. HOWEVER if its not from dell secure boot must be OFF in bios.

Other than that there are no issues.

"...the photo it looks more like a USFF than an SFF."  If it were a USFF, USFF has no expansion slots for any cards.
