PowerEdge 1950 Missing VDs

Greetings,

Bear with me as it is my first time here. First I am not a specialist, I can follow directions and maintain servers but that is about it.

Over the weekend we had some storms come through and knocked the power out.

When I came in Monday morning I noticed one of the drives on the server screaming. I shut the server down and put in a new drive as I was instructed but now the following error is on the screen and I don't know what to do as the data on the drives is crucial to our operation.

"The following VDs are missing: 00

If you proceed (or load the configuration utility), these VDs will be removed from your configuration.  If you wish to use them at a later time, they will have to be imported.  If you believe these VDs should be present, please power off your system and check your cables to ensure all disks are present.

Press any key to continue, or 'C' to load the configuration utility."

There are 4 drives, all of them are Dell SAS 73GB 15k drives.

We are out of warranty and are hoping someone can help.

TIA!

Mshamblin,

Access the Perc 6/i controller BIOS (CTRL-R on bootup) From there tell me what you see for the Virtual Disk, then hit Ctrl-N and it will switch to the Physical Disks page. Tell me what you see each of the drives listed as. We need to know these before we proceed.

Thank you.

I will do that but I want to be sure before I proceed that I will not lose the data on the 3 original drives.

This message on the screen now is what I am unsure of.

I stopped doing anything once that screen came up. I have a few pictures of some of the configuration screens that I have tried to post but I get a msg saying it is too large.

Thanks,
