Dell PowerEdge Install drivers PERC5 RAID1

Hello Friends,

Can anyone tell me, how do I install the driver on PowerEdge 840 with PERC5 during installation for Windows 2003R2?

When we originally got the server, it came with 4 HD 250Gb each (software pre-installed), two disk failed and I decided to install 2 HD 1 Terra each, and changing it to RAID 1.   The Raid system has been initialized with no errors.  When I start the computer, it tells me it has logical drivers.  My problem is when I try to install windows, it doesn't recognize the HD, so I tried downloading the driver from www.support.dell.com, and it gives me a file DRVR_WIN_R153206.exe 5Gb, and the OS only allows me to install from a Floppy driver 1.44Gb... humm...

On top of that, when I try to get it to read the A: drive, it tells me it did not find the file txtsetup.oem, so even if the driver I have would fit, it is not the file I need.

Unfortunately my CD OEM version of Windows 2003R2 from Dell, doesn't have the drivers of the Dell server built in.  Anyone has any suggestions?  Thank you!

Hello.

The PERC 5 and 6/i drivers are not native to Windows Server 2003 OS and by pressing F6, the system is prompting you to load these drivers externally via the 3.5 Inch floppy. Since the server has no provision for the floppy, use the Dell USB Prep Key to install the PERC 6/i drivers. Here is the link: www.dell.com/.../DriversDetails and follow the instructions below:

Create a temporary folder and unzip the USB key into it

Using this link: www.dell.com/.../DriversDetails      download the "Hard Drive" file format of the PERC 6/i ->Open -> Continue

Insert a USB flash preferably of less than 2 GB, to create a bootable media that emulates the floppy drive, run the USBKeyPrepF6 set up file and point it to the USB flash

Hello Robert,

Thanks for your help.

I in the link : www.dell.com/.../DriversDetails I found two files, the first one SAS-RAID_Driver.......exe is 5G in size, I downloaded it, and it won't allow me to install.  The second one DELL_MULTI-DEVICE... This later one, I was able to upack into c:\dell\drivers.... folder, small in size.  Unfortunately it gave me an error: "The device associated with following devise driver will not work correctly on this computer: \percsas.sys.

The Device driver is not compatible with the x86-based version of Windows your computer is running....."

any suggestions?

Thank you!
